Louisiana Boys Open the Manship Theatre Show before headliner, Jeffrey Steele!

It’s an all Louisiana boy opening round at the Manship Theatre for the featured show before headliner, Jeffrey Steele, with CJ Solar, Rick Huckaby, and Blake Griffith!  Get to know them!

CJ Solar – CJ was born and raised in Baton Rouge and was recently named Music Row’s “Independent Artist of the Year” at the 2019 Country Radio Seminar held in Nashville.  His last two singles, “Airplane” and “American Girls” both hit top 15 last year at country radio. As an artist, he has been opening shows across the country with Gary Allan, Chris Janson, and others including one of his big musical influences, Lynyrd Skynyrd.  As a songwriter, he signed with Sea Gayle Music (a company co-owned by Brad Paisley) shortly before graduating from Belmont University.  His songs have been recorded by numerous artists including Jerrod Niemann, Justin Moore and Texas artists Kyle Park and Mike Ryan which both had his songs hit #1 on the Texas charts last year; but it was his song, “Up Down” recorded by Morgan Wallen featuring Florida Georgia Line which scored him his first #1 on the national Billboard & Mediabase country charts last year.  He received his first ASCAP Award for the chart topper.  He has been named “5 Country Artists to Watch in 2018” by Taste of Country and Rolling Stone Country has named CJ one of their  “New Artists You Need To Know.”

Rick Huckaby – “Huck” as he is referred to, is a Nashville, TN is a singer, songwriter, and guitar player. His sound is like none other heard in country music today combining influences as rare as Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Merle Haggard, Ronnie Milsap, and Keith Whitley.

Huck was born in Baton Rouge, LA as the son of the legendary basketball coach, Rick Huckabay Sr, (Rick took the “a” out at the end of his last name as not to confuse the pronunciation).

Rick played guitar in Tracey Lawrence’s band for 5 years and had 10 of his songs recorded by Lawrence. He, also, wrote the top 20, “Muddy Water”, recorded by Trace Adkins…and, another top 20, “Beer with Jesus” released by Thomas Rhett.

Rick is, also, the lead singer for Nashville- based progressive blues band, Big Shoes, which is made up of some of Nashville’s legendary session players.  Rick is, also, an in-demand  session singer on  Nashville’s Music Row after being on the Warner Brothers, Nashville  artist roster for 4 years.

Blake Griffith – Songwriter Blake Griffith was born and raised on the outskirts of Grand Cane, Louisiana, population 243. He grew up listening to Rod Stewart, Tom Petty, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and the like while deeply influenced by the dirt road he’s lived on his whole life.  Griffith attended the 2nd Annual 3rd Street Songwriters Festival when he came over to see Jeffrey Steele headline after participating in Steele’s Songwriter Bootcamp. Fast forward…Griffith signed his first publishing deal with Jeffrey Steele’s 3 Ring Circus in Spring of 2018.  Griffith still lives in Louisiana and heads to Nashville one week each month to write.  I’m sure you will hear some of his song successes at the show!
